Breakfast Buffet Thursday Morning June 20th

Dear 5W Parents:

We will celebrate the end of our school year with a breakfast buffet tomorrow morning from 8:50-9:30 a.m. I have asked students to bring a breakfast item such as cereal, muffins, or fruit.  Students have written in their planners what they will bring to class to share.  Please, do not feel that you need to buy something.  Anything that you already have in your fridge or kitchen pantry is fine.  Also, I have requested that students bring their own cutlery, bowl, cup, fork and spoon, In addition, please label any food item that contains peanuts in consideration of students with food allergies.

Tomorrow and Friday, students will need to clean-up the classroom and will need a box/bag to bring home personal supplies.  A clean cloth or rag to wipe down their desks, chairs, and lockers will be needed too.  Finally, if there any school Science textbooks or class novels at home, please return by this Friday, June 21st.

Grade 5 Victoria Field Trip

Yesterday, we had a wonderful trip to Victoria visiting the BC Museum and Legislature.  A big thanks goes to all our parent-volunteers who spent a whole day with our Grade 5's.

South Africa Research

Hi 5W Parents:

We have started a new unit on South Africa this week.  Students have been learning about the political and physical geography of Africa to provide a perspective for students to understand where South Africa is in the world.  Today, Mrs.Kwong, our school's librarian, introduced our students to World Book online on our VCS library webpage. Grade 5 Reading Club Notice—June 6^th Last Reading Club and Performance

Our final Grade 5 Reading Club will be on Thursday, June 6^th, from 3:15-3:50 p.m.  Students will participate in a Reader’s Theater, displaying their reading-aloud skills.  Parents are welcomed to join us for this last performance in the 5W Room.  Our student-readers will be Joshua, Brandon, Hanna, Angelica, Noah, and Andy.
