Spelling--Students received a new spelling list today, test date is February 14th. Also, students must write a definition poem using spelling or vocabulary words.
Science--Students are learning about compound machines and how they are used in forestry, mining, and fishing in BC. Students should re-read pages 59-79 in preparation for their Chapter 3 test on Wednesday, February 15th. Also, students will be required to create a study-note-taking sheet based on their understanding of compound machines.
Math--Students have learned to multiply by two or three digit numbers, eg. 245 x 57. We are moving on to division this week. I am pleased to see that many students have mastered their basic multiplication facts. Also, students are challenged to do order of operations questions.
Writing--Students have been learning the 6 traits of writing. Currently, we are focusing on organizing our writing from a catchy beginning to thoughtful conclusion. We are typing a final copy during our computer class-time. Students often have the opportunity to share their writing with other students and in front of the class.
Reading--Students have shared non-fiction book reports and will be presenting group book reports later on this week. As a class, we have began a novel study, The Secret World of Og.
Bible--Our BMV for this Friday is Luke 4:16-19, verses 20-21 are bonus.
