5W NEWS MAY 29TH

Dear Students and Parents,

We had a great Reader's Theater yesterday after school.  The Grade 5's performed three stories that were enjoyed by many parents and students.  I really appreciated the effort and enthusiasm displayed by the students for reading over the past few weeks.  Well-done!

Some homework next week:

French:  Memorize your lines for the upcoming French plays on June 12th

Writing & Reading
Writing and Reading will be connected with our Slavery Unit.  Students are writing from the perspective of slaves leaving Africa and coming to the New Land.  We are reading “From Slave Ship to Freedom Road”, a book that captures the slave experience.
Students are writing about slavery from the perspective of slaves and slave owners.  Also, we are discussing friendship, prejudice, and stereotypes in class.

Parent Chaperons for Victoria Day Field Trip on Thursday, June 11, 2015
Thank you to all of you who were willing to chaperone for our Victoria Day field trip next month – there were a lot of you!  As mentioned in the permission form for a variety of reasons, we will be taking 6 parents from each class, so we picked names out of a bowl today as a class, and here are the parents that were drawn to chaperone:
